Family Tree

The NFL contains a lot of different influences for a various amount of people. When it comes to the people who are involved with the NFL most of the people have a certain someone or people who helped them get to where they are today.

When it comes to players I chose as influences, I chose current wide receiver Antonio Brown as one influence. Antonio Brown said that his main influence was has father. His father played as a professional arena football player. So he grew up around this sport. The next NFL player I chose was Pat McAfee. Pat was a former punter who played for a variety of teams. His influences was his father as well and kicker, Adam Vinatieri. Adam is considered the oldest player in the NFL at 46. Pat played beside Adam when he played for the colts. Adam's influence is Matt Bahr who was also a kicker for various teams in 1979. Adam played along the side of Matt, who taught him some "tactics" for kicking in general. I struggled to find influences for other people who are involved with the NFL such as analyst and even the commissioner.

What I found out with this research is the players that have influences often have their influences as people who are in the same situations as these players. By situations, I mean game situations, positions in general and teams they played for. Like mentioned previously, these people who are influences for these players, in some way, aided these player become the people they are today, on and off the field.

NFL And Interaction With Media

The NFL invites many different forms of interaction over many different platforms. The biggest form of interaction that I can think of is Fantasy Football. Fantasy Football is a person creates his own team digitally and based on the performance of the players in the real life games, the person will gain points for his team. The team with the highest amount of points wins. What makes this interactive is the people who keep up to date with their teams will trade, start, and sit players throughout the entire season.

People use this platform the most when it comes to the NFL because it is an opportunity for the winner to win money. Plus, people get to stay up to date with their favorite players and teams throughout the season.

NFL isn't the only sport that offers this form of interactive gambling. We see this in many sports, but the biggest we see at this time of year is the men's college basketball March Madness brackets. Filling out these brackets can give you a chance to win $1 billion on ESPN, if you get a perfect one. Interaction can occur even within the sports world.

The Remix

The content involving the NFL most always ends up in a remix. The kinds of remix content that is put out to the public is usually Reflexive and Selective. Reflexive remixes are two different sources put together to create a big remix. Selective remixes usually add or subtract certain content to the liking of the creator.

One of the most popular remixes I can think of involving the NFL would be the Bad Lip Readings on YouTube. These people the video of players talking and put their own dialogue within the video to give make it comical. This is just one example of a remix involving the NFL. Another remix would be memes in the NFL. Memes are very popular in today's time.

The players and other people involved have no idea that their content will be used for this matter. At the same time these players and personnel are on national TV and online media such as ESPN. They should always suspect that the content that is being produced will end on somewhere other than just TV.

Collaboration With The NFL and Media

The people within these media platforms are always collaborating with the players and people within the NFL. The types of collaboration that is occurring can be debatable when it comes to the NFL. Most us would think that the collaboration type involving the NFL in general and the people who discuss it would be unwitting. These players are not aware that they are participating and are not aware how the content will be used...or will they?

Mostly everyone who is in and involved in the NFL is pretty much famous. Mainly because these people are professional athletes and very wealthy. Since these people are on national television are they really unaware that they are participating in anything that is happening on these media platforms? I would say that they are aware.

Specifically on social media platforms memes have been very popular and I have seen many memes involving players and people involved with the NFL. This would be considered as an unwitting collaboration involving these people. With content such as Podcasts and other analysist involving these people, that may be considered contributory collaboration. I think that the NFL has a big gray area when it comes to collaboration with content.
